I was very luck to have tested a really lovely pattern called, "Jacks". It was designed by Becca of Bryan House Quilts. Take a look a Becca's beautiful version of the quilt.
What a beautiful job she did not only on the pattern but the quilt as well.
The pattern is easy to read and has really clear instructions. I love how she has combined both traditional piecing with the 16 patch and the foundation paper piecing of the star points! I had never worked with a block that combined the two methods and I have to say I am a huge fan! I chose to do a baby quilt for someone and it was easy enough to determine the directions for a smaller than intended quilt based on the directions and cutting information provided.
I love how this quilt looks not only with the block itself but the beautiful stars that form when you piece the blocks together! Take a look at what I did with the pattern:
This outdoor photo was a little off in the blue color, it is not such a bright blue. It was a super sunny Florida day that day! lol So, I took a pic indoors as well, which reflects the blue a bit better.
i just love the center star when it is pieced like this! These are approx 16 in blocks I believe so this was a nice size for a newborn. I would easily work with this lovely pattern again!
If you want to check it out, the first photo is linked directly to the pattern or you can click HERE to go right to Bryan House Quilts' Store and purchase it now.
If you use the pattern I would love to see it! Link me here or on Instagram!

This is the WIP post with the terrible, no good, crappy pics, so please excuse them today lol. I did get a good amount done this week, though, and feel productive :)
I finished my mini log cabin mini teehee for my cotton and steel swap partner. I am keeping the finished pic for after she receives it... which is not til June I think. I hate waiting lol.
I made my first ever pin cushion. It is a bit wonky, and the hand stitching to close it is abysmal, but darnnit I did it and I think it's cute! <3 I really need to learn how to hand stitch better though!
I finished the ticker tape table topper I made for my mom. I think it turned out pretty cute and I think she will like it. It was fun to try something new. Oh that and the pin cushion is two new things this week!
Then on Monday I started on my next swap project which is for the Viva La Villains Swap on Instagram. I like doing these swaps because it helps stretch my creativity. Makes me maybe go somewhere I would not have gone otherwise. Hopefully this will play well with the rest of my theme... think the Red Queen from Alice. Shhh....
Ok, off til next week. I have one more letter to do!

I took part in the Spring Mug Rug Swap over at Fort Worth Fabric Studio's blog. I had never made a mug rug before so I was a little nervous. To top it off I fell in love with a little applique pattern and so I chose to do that... which I have also never done before lol. Hopefully, my partner still liked it as I made it with lots of love.
My partner was Dee of Dee's Doings. I was her partner as well. I assumed it was another three way blind swap, but nope. The only downside was that I got no information on her at all and had no idea of her blog or any other social media. So I am really unsure if what I was was her style or not. The only way I figured out it was my partner is her comment on their site about receiving her package. So...I am going to let her know about this post so at least she knows I love what I got from her.
I know I showed this before, so bare with me. This is what I sent to Dee, an appliqued mug rugs, a mug, some tea, and a big ole cookie! I even wrapped the cookie in bubble wrap and I am really hoping it did not break! lol
In return I got the cutest butterfly mug rug and some sweet matching fabric. The only problem is that it is too cute to use as a mug rug ...I can totally envision spilling coffee or tea on it :( So, it is hanging in my sewing room on my wall of minis :) I totally love it.
So, thank you Dee so much for making me smile. I love what you made for me and thank you FWFS for hosting this swap. It was fun!
